Can you live in Jamaica (not the Kingston area) without owning a car?
yes you can. You can take route taxi’s or buses. You may have to wait for taxi’s depending on where you plan on living. Taxi’s are cheaper than owning a car there. I’ve owned a car there and it cost 3X as much as in Canada.
Yes it it totally possible to exist without a car and I think Cat has it right….owning a car is more expensive and probably more of a headache with insurance and maintenance.
Get to know the route taxi system where you plan to live and you can move around for super cheap. Lots of routes within a town are $50-$100 jmd, not more than a dollar or two and they are very direct from place to place. You can even get to different towns for less than $5 if you know the taxi and mini-bus systems.
